Content and contributions:

  • Improve level encounters by rebalancing them and generating more variety in the gameplay.
  • Remove friction in the in-world navigation.
  • QA test and give design feedback to further polish the product.
  • Support and help design for a multi-disciplinary team with their post-launch updates leading to a significant increase in positive reviews.
  • Set up playtests and feedback-gathering processes for active community members to test upcoming patches.

Responsibilities involved were:

  • Deep analysis of the project, community feedback and game data to identify frictions
    • Manage dependencies like localisation, and production time of the feature.
    • Once established, plan out patches.
  • Feature contributions I brought to the product:
    • Reduction of friction in world navigation by using lighting, reduction in repetitive asset usage, and signpost feature.
    • Rebalancing of all combat encounters to introduce more variety in encounters, using difficulty matrixes.
    • Improvements to game onboarding, such as additional UI explaining all features, such as the guide and first player encounters.
    • Help develop the mega map and minimap feature.
    • QA testing boss fights and re-design Adriaans’ fight.
    • Set up playtests with community members to gather feedback and validate that the changes will have the desired impact.
